When you attend the practice, your injury will be assessed to determine the most appropriate course of treatment. Wounds can be cleaned and closed using stitches or skin glue. If there are other, more serious injuries sustained at the same time, you may need hospital assessment.
A range of suturing techniques may be used depending on the type and location of the wound, ensuring appropriate closure and healing. Often dissolvable stitches can be used, which makes review appointments and follow-up less necessary.
We also provide follow-up care if needed, including safe and careful removal of stitches once the wound has healed sufficiently. This involves checking the area, ensuring it is healing well, and removing the sutures in a controlled manner to reduce the risk of complications. This is often done for wounds closed at the hospital.
